Hi, my name is Libby Haines and I am the current Vice President for Kappa Delta Pi-Eta Psi. I a senior at Rowan University studying Early Childhood Education and Literacy Studies. I have been a member of KDP since Fall 2013 and have been an active member ever since. My favorite event is Literacy Alive, which is held every spring semester. It helps bring children from around the community and our members closer together. I love being a part of KDP! It has enhanced my love for being involved with children and has expanded my knowledge of teaching. Last year, I served as the SGA representative. I am so glad to be serving for a second time on the Executive Board and I am looking forward to another great year!
As Vice President, I help the President oversee the Executive Board and help plan and accomplish fundraising, professional development, and service events throughout the semester. Please contact me if you have an questions or need help with anything.

Hi everyone! My name is Katie Lehocky and I am a senior majoring in elementary education and literacy studies and earning special education, middle school, and reading endorsements. Entering my third year as an active KDP member, I serve as the Vice President of Service on our chapter’s executive board. As this role, I play a major role in planning and carrying out our two big service projects of the year, the Pajama Party and Literacy Alive. Both events take place during the fall and spring semesters and really bring everyone in our chapter together to create a fun and successful night for the children from local districts. I look forward to beginning my teaching career working with students and teaching them the basics of literacy. I plan on continuing my education to earn a Master’s degree in reading to become a Reading Specialist. I believe that all students can be successful with the right supports. In teaching students how to read, I am certain that I play a crucial role in their education. Once a person knows how to read, they are ready to take on the world. That is what I aspire to do for my students.

VP of Social Events - Carly Norman
Email: [email protected]
My name is Carly Norman and I am the Vice President of Social Affairs for the 2015-2016 academic year! I am an Early Childhood Education major (P-3) with a dual major in Writing Arts and a certified endorsement in Reading (K-12). I have been a member of KDP for three years now and I continue to love the organization more and more each year. There are endless reasons why I aspire to be a teacher; but, the most prominent one to me is that I love to see my student's confidence grow. Through my enrollment in the teacher candidate program at Rowan, I have had the opportunity to work with individual and small groups of children. I have learned that teachers have the power to instill a quality of confidence and self-worth in their students by making them realize what they're capable of. The fact that I have the power to make my students see the many ways that they shine is so inspiring to me.

Foundations Representative - ZacHery Sminkey
Email: [email protected]
My name is Zachery Sminkey, and I will be serving as your Foundations Representative throughout the 2014-2015 school year. I'm a super senior that transferred credits from Cumberland and Gloucester County College. I'm a Subject Matter/English Education Major, and I am also getting my Special Education and Reading Endorsement. This is my 4th semester at Rowan, and my second semester with KDP. I loved the Literacy Alive event, as studying to be an English teacher, I'm all about reading, and I think we do a great job of putting on a fun/educational time for the kids! Though I'm newer to KDP, I'm excited to be involved, and take on more of a leadership role. I would love to find ways to do more things for older students in the community as well! As the Foundations Rep, I'll really be keeping an eye out for what's going on with the Foundation and relay that information to all of you. I'm excited to work with you all this year!
